Named for the celestial sage NaradaNarad Ghat is named for Narada, the itinerant celestial sage of Hindu mythology known for travelling between realms carrying news, music and occasional mischief — a figure who appears across a wide range of Puranic stories.
Local tradition associates the ghat loosely with the sage's visits to Kashi, though — like many of the smaller ghats along this stretch — detailed records of its individual history are thin compared to the handful of major ghats nearby; it is best taken in as part of a longer walk through the central riverfront rather than visited for a single specific sight.
