One of Kashi's 84 ghatsNishadaraja Ghat is a smaller ghat on the south stretch of the riverfront, between Jain Ghat (Bachraj Ghat) and Prabhu Ghat — named for Nishadraj, the boatman-chief of the Ramayana who ferried Rama, Sita and Lakshmana across the river in exile.
Like most of Varanasi's 84 ghats, Nishadaraja Ghat is used day to day mostly by residents of the surrounding lanes for bathing, laundry and the ordinary rhythm of riverside life, rather than drawing the crowds that gather at the handful of landmark ghats nearby.
It sits within easy walking distance of both Jain Ghat (Bachraj Ghat) and Prabhu Ghat, and is best taken in as part of a longer walk or boat ride along this stretch rather than visited on its own.
