Home / Ghats / Vijayanagaram Ghat
One of Kashi's 84 ghatsVijayanagaram Ghat is a smaller ghat on the south central stretch of the riverfront, between Lali Ghat and Kedar Ghat — its name recalls patronage connected to the Vizianagaram zamindari of coastal Andhra, part of the same pattern of South Indian royal and noble patronage reflected at nearby Kedar Ghat.
Like most of Varanasi's 84 ghats, Vijayanagaram Ghat is used day to day mostly by residents of the surrounding lanes for bathing, laundry and the ordinary rhythm of riverside life, rather than drawing the crowds that gather at the handful of landmark ghats nearby.
It sits within easy walking distance of both Lali Ghat and Kedar Ghat, and is best taken in as part of a longer walk or boat ride along this stretch rather than visited on its own.
